During this excursion we photograph typical birds which live and breed in the wetlands such as bean geese, and various types of waders like ruffs.
We leave Ivalo by car either in the morning or afternoon depending on the light and weather conditions. We drive north until the coniferous forest ends and the subartic birch zone begins. This area has large wetlands. We will then walk about 4 or 5 kms while observing and photographing bird life in the wetlands. The terrain is at times challenging and wet so this trip requires sufficient physical fitness and ease of mobility.
Typical bird species in the area areruff, bean goose, wood sandpiper, whimbrel, common greenshank, spotted redshank, meadow pipit, reed bunting, bluethroat, common teal, golden plover, short-eared owl and willow ptarmigan.
